Water Tower Bike Rack
water tower bike rack
As part of the Austin Art in Public Places program, the project called for an original work of art that also served as a bike rack for the renovated West Enfield Pool. The minimum requirements were for the sculpture to hold 4 bicycles, and withstand the elements. The design concepts: the lockable interface of a bicycle, active water, and light and shadow play, arose out of discussions between the various project constituents while walking the site. The fabrication process consisted of CNC plasma cutting steel sheets that were then bent, welded, and painted.
